The origins of Huntsville can be traced back to 1805—the recognized founding of the city upon the arrival of Revolutionary War veteran John Hunt. In 1811, Huntsville became the first incorporated town in Alabama.

Homes in Downtown are some of the most expensive in the area and often date back to the 1800s and early 1900s. Five Points is characterized by historic, modestly sized bungalow-style homes.
